A boy named Aarav had a question about why crows are black, so he ran to his mother with a picture and asked, "Mummy, why are crows black?" His mother laughed and said, "Well, there was a time when crows were white." She began to tell him a story:
"A long time ago, the sun asked a crow to deliver a ruby he had placed in a silken bag for his beloved, a princess on earth. While flying over a village, the crow became hungry and decided to stop for a while. He placed the bag on a small branch of a tree and flew off in search of food.

Meanwhile, a merchant noticed the bag and stole the ruby inside it. Instead of the ruby, he filled the bag with rubbish. When the crow returned and presented the bag to the princess, she saw the rubbish and became very angry. Later, when the sun learned what had happened, he was so furious that his intense glare burned off all the crow's feathers, turning them black."
